[Tifa bumps him playfully with her shoulder like she's trying to push him away, but she knows it'll do nothing, and so she leans in a little into him in return. As if responding to him, the flames—the ones that she created—burst upwards through the grates and burn hot, immediately cooking the vegetables and meat she's laid out.
Well, at least now she can focus on gathering up their dinner onto the plates...!!! She's going to do that before he makes her forget all about the skewers.]
... What if you kept it handy for after?
[That is to say... yes, she thinks she would like that.]
[After all this time, he still knows how to make his bride-to-be blush.]
Little did the princess know... the pirate was there all along. [It's said in such a playful, whimsical tone that she practically sings it.] Snuck in and waited for a chance to take her away so they could be together.
[This is starting to sound like a book she would keep stashed away under her side of the bed...]
[Armed now with a freshly grilled skewer of veggies and meat, Tifa drops her head to his shoulder to relax and enjoy the food, bringing her feet up so that she can curl up closer against him.]
I... haven't really thought about it. Guess there aren't really any places we could go to get "out of town", are there? Not some big resort like there was in Camelot.
The beach... in winter? You think it snows out there...?
[Even if it did though, she does pause to think on it as she chews on a roasted pepper. It might actually be a sight to see if it did, and even if not, they wouldn't have a problem warming up the water there to swim in it if it got too cold.
But the thought of swimming brings something else to mind and in all her excitement, she gently taps Eustace on the arm with a hand.]
Oh—! Wasn't there something about some new hot springs? Thought I heard something about that...
[Something tenses suddenly in Tifa's shoulders, and there's a weird prickle in the back of her neck... like they're suddenly being watched. She knows they aren't, but that dragon didn't exactly leave either of them with a good impression, did she?
Only in the sense that I wouldn't want a dragon crashing our honeymoon if we were there. ...On the other hand, who knows if it would try and find me before then. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get all that squared away before the wedding somehow.
[Well, she likes to think that the dragon wouldn't dare crash their honeymoon if Tifa were there, but... she did kind of crash their day when she swooped down and took him, so she understands his hesitation.
She does raise a dubious brow, her mouth half open as she pauses going for a piece of meat on her stick.]
Huh? You wanna go see her?
[If that's what he means by getting it all squared away. Please let that be a no...]
[Her arm slinks around him, almost protectively, before she's half-hugging him again.]
I'll go with you if you do.
[And she will not take no or "I can do it on my own" for an answer on this one. If she's going to try anything funny with Eustace, she wants to be there to make sure that she doesn't...
Not to mention... she thinks back to what he had said back in the castle...]
We both beat her up pretty bad.
[Although as far as Tifa's concerned, the dragon is the one who owes the apology! So maybe that will be a good time for her to do that too.]
[He does indeed look like he wants to protest...but he just lets out a small breath.]
I know you'll come along, so I won't stop you. [A small kiss to the top of her head before he teases her a little.] Just don't start a war over me... Lady Knight.
[Tifa lets her eyes fall shut when she feels him press a kiss to the top of her head, and she hums and giggles around the small piece of potato she'd just taken a bite into.]
I thought you'd want that, my Prince.
[She's going to tease right back, although she's already feeling a bit flustered.]
I promised I would burn that whole castle down if that's what it took.
[He just continues to smile amused before he takes a skewer to start working on himself.]
Devastated. I would have bemoaned my tragic fate, wondering if my beautiful, loyal knight would ever come to find me.
[BS, he could get out of there on his own. But that's not a fun answer, and it's rare for him to play up something like this. So he'll gift her this much.]
[Excuse you. It's cute when she does it!!! Painfully cute.
She gasps a little—that isn't part of the act—when he takes her hand, and there's a moment where it's like he's caught her under a spell before she finds herself and leans back, her lips quirking up with a playful, subtle smile as her fingers fiddle with and twirl her ring.]
Ah, but... didn't I swear an oath, my dear prince? To be your knight means I cannot wed...
[Tifa lets herself crash into him, and it takes every bit of self control that she has not to let her eyes close against the warmth of his body and to maintain eye contact with him, even as his lips brush over hers.]
I guess... you are the prince.
[She's almost breathless now, and there's a loud crackle from the fire. ... Must he always do this to her?]
And I guess I don't need to be a Knight to protect you, do I? Would that make me a princess then?
[He smiles a little against her lips, already tasting a bit of her sweetness along with soft flavors from the skewer. And be can't resist any longer and takes her lips, kissing her firmly.]
[Her giddy laugh dies away into the kiss, and her plate almost slides right out of her lap as she returns it with equal enthusiasm, breathing him in and teasing them both with a little taste and nibble of her own on his lips before she's pulling back an inch.]
Then I'm going to need to find a dress fit for the title.
[Her wedding dress, that is.
She parts with him further though, knowing full well that if they continue down that road, they'll end up having to put out the fire and send the dogs away... and she still has more for him after they're finished eating.
Even the dogs sense this, and a couple of them bark up, wondering where their food is. Not yet!!! They just ate!
Tifa never goes far, however, and she remains tucked in at his side as she reaches for the last of the skewers to place on their plates, and she looks over her shoulder at him with a playful gleam all across her expression.]
You'll have to show me the ropes. Train me to be a proper queen for her king.
[Just like he had shown the princess how to be a pirate.]
