GENERAL TERMS
Agents: A very ordinary occupation. It covers a broad range of jobs, from guarding cities or important people to intervening in international conflict. There are those who earn a living as agents while also belonging to an airship crew. This arrangement is quite convenient, as use of an airship provides a special freedom of mobility. However, agents can operate without licenses or credentials, so their quality is hit-or-miss. Anyone who wants a job well done would be wise to put in a request at the agents' guild in town, even if it costs a little extra.
Airships: As the only real means of travel between the islands, they are the symbol of skyfarers and their crews. Early airships were constructed based on Astral engineering, but advancements in research have been made in recent years. Now airships with all sorts of useful modifications crisscross the skyways.
The Astrals: Long ago they invaded the skydoms, but were wiped from the pages of history after the War and now exist as pure enigma. Not one single thing is known about their true nature other than that they possess a mysterious, overwhelming strength. Today, airships employ the engineering of the Astrals.
Canaan: Canaan is located in a lower layer of the Phantagrande Skydom. It can only be reached through a treacherous passage dubbed the Celestial Strait, to which countless airships and their crews have been lost. As a result, skyfarers far and wide consider Canaan to be unreachable.
Crew of Enforcers: An immense crew of skyfarers found throughout the sky. The Blue Knight of the Seven Luminary Knights serves as their captain. Their activities mainly involve apprehending criminals and escorting VIPS, but they take on an abundance of requests from different lands, including goods transport. Airspace is assigned to different fleets, and the Phantagrande Skydom is overseen by the Fourth Fleet, which includes Admiral Lecia and her adviser, Monika.
Dark Essence: A crystal borne from the Erste Empire's research of Lyria and the primal beasts. Originally designed to mimic the power of the Astrals, it has the power to bestow artificial Astral power unto begins from the Sky Realm. However, wielding powers from a different dimension must not be done without great caution.
The Earthly Realm: The land of the dead. Those who have been to the Realm and subsequently returned exist only in myth. Ever since ancient times, falling to earth has meant death. Even today, there are some funeral rites that include casting the coffin of the deceased to earth. Records exist of curious orders who had set their sights on earth, but each and every one has vanished, so no one can be sure whether or not they were able to reach the Earthly Realm unscathed.
The Four Primarchs: When the Astrals took over the skydoms thousands of years ago, they created the original primal beasts in order to regulate the world. Four of those origin beasts in particular oversee the tetra-elements responsible for natural order: Michael (fire), Gabriel (water), Raphael (wind), and Uriel (earth). They usually remain assimilated into the sky, aiding the supreme primarch Lucifer with absolute loyalty.
Grandcypher: A shipwreck untouched for countless generations on the Angads Highlands of Eingana Island. The image of that ship perched so nobly on the plains is one of Rackam's earliest memories. As a lad, he dreamed of being a helmsman, and so the ship easily captured his heart. It's mid-sized and no more powerful than any other airship, yet it is full of mystery, supposedly responding to the hearts and minds of its passengers.
Grim Basin: An area brimming with miasma that divides the Skydom. Violent winds whip the miasma in the Basin into a frenzy. Crews that sail here have to fight not only countless fiendish creatures, but relentless gales that threaten to tear their airship apart. It's said that the only way to pass through this evil place is to assemble all the scattered pieces of the Sky Map.
Halloween in the Sky Realm: A festival often associated with costumes, pumpkins, and pumpkin monsters. Since times of yore, the gates to the other side are opened on this day, allowing spirits to visit the Sky Realm. Among the visitors is Lost Jack, who wanders between the two worlds. Skyfarers from near and far come to play with Lost Jack; Halloween was made for this very reason, and for many, it's what makes Halloween such a thrill.
Holy Night: Towns across the sky glimmer under festoons of lights as people celebrate the season, indulging in savory roasts and sugarplum cakes with those dearest to them. Santa Claus takes to the skies on this night, giving presents to all good boys and girls. Customs vary for this day rooted in sacred tradition—while generally Santa leaves gifts by the bedsides of children, some towns may prepare a tree for him to leave his goodies.
Island of the Astrals, Eustalucia: The island's existence is shrouded in the same mystery that surrounds the Astrals themselves. Naturally, a great number of skyfarers have set off into the vast blue skies to chase its legend. It's said to be a place of unworldly splendor, and that whoever reaches it will be granted their every wish.
The Lost Royal Families: Bloodlines of royal families from a thousand years ago who ruled a long-lost kingdom, and the ancestors of Societte, Yuel, and Kou. Originally, the sovereign of the first family reigned supreme, but ever-increasing land expansion and population explosion pushed the first sovereign to make eight trusted vassals lords of their own fiefdoms. But many of those lords became drunk with power and abused their authority. Fearing an eventual civil war, the first sovereign established a hierarchy of the families in hopes of long-lasting peace. This system became moot, as they all eventually bowed down to Ninetails, compelled into presenting their dances to her on a regular basis. The first sovereign saw this as a desecration of sacred tradition and conspired with the others to seal away Ninetails for good. Though the plan succeeded, Ninetails let out a lethal miasma, killing all nine sovereigns present before she turned to stone. Leaderless, the kingdom gradually faded into oblivion. (feat. in Forgiveness and Gratitude event)
Magic: The power that governs all things mysterious. Those who master this power are called mages. Unlike primal beasts, this skill has existed in the skydoms since ancient times. There are even schools dedicated to studying the craft. It is possible to achieve power on par with that of the primal beasts upon mastering magic, but those who have reached that level are few and far between.
Malice: Malice is the form of a primal beast that has been subject to excess infusion of dark essence. Though they possess astounding power in this state, the Astrals never designed them to be able to handle such amounts of dark energy. There is great risk of destroying the primal beast itself.
North Vast: A great land mass in the most northern part of Phantagrande. It is mostly unexplored, but some areas, locked in endless territorial disputes between different nations and powers, are occupied by lawless groups. Silverwind Stretch, considered the roughest place in Phantagrande, and the Eoniho Mountains are located here and partially cross into the Grim Basin.
Phantagrande: The area where Zinkenstill, Port Breeze Archipelago, and others drift among the calm breeze. It is encircled by the Grim Basin on all sides, but due to so many prosperous islands, there are few who attempt to leave. However, in recent years the Erste Empire has been in frequent conflict with the peoples of many islands in their quest to dominate the Skydom.
Primal Beasts: The greatest weapon the Astrals used in their invasion. These giant beasts are gifted with god-like power. After the War, they turned to crystal and settled into slumber, melding into every culture. Because these beasts only obey the Astrals, their awakening would be a calamity for the sky world and must be stopped.
Skyfarer: A general term for those who sail the skies in airships. It's said to be the job with the most freedom—and the most danger. Sky travel entails battles with all kinds of sinister creatures on just about a daily basis, so seasoned skyfarers are revered by all. Skyfarers form groups called crews. There are several famous crews in Phantagrande Skydom.
Skymap: A comprehensive guide to the world assembled from the scattered pieces of the Sky Map. It's said that this map will lead whomever owns it to wherever they wish without fail. It's regarded as a thing of legend, part of the mysterious legacy the Astrals left behind.
Skymap Piece: The mighty primal beasts possess these bits of map. The Sky Map can be acquired by gathering all of these pieces together. However, the primal beasts who possess the Sky Map fragments are nearly as powerful as gods, and each piece must be recovered from each beast.
Speedship: A small airship designed for racing. It is lighter than traditional airships and typically only seats one to draw maximum speed. It is not suited for high-altitude flying, but its acceleration and drift surpass similarly-sized skyskimmers. It is also highly customizable.
The War: A war that broke out between the skydoms and the Astrals long ago. Through this drastic conflict, the people were able to gain back rule of their world from the Astrals and change the course of history. Unfortunately, almost all details of the War are now lost, yet its effects can still be seen shaping society even today.
SOCIETY SPECIFIC TERMS
The Moon: A mutable celestial body, considerably larger than everything else in the night sky. The skydwellers look upon it with a sense of wonder, as it is constantly changing form. It was once thought to be just a pale star, but when Zeta discovers a mural on Moon Sliver, the crew believes that it's an island floating in the upper regions of the sky.
Moon Silver: A peripheral island, its geography is reminiscent of the bumpy surface of the moon when seen from a giant telescope. The Society has identified this location as one of the Foe's bases. A direct line of communication remains between those who dwell on the moon and the Foe, but no one knows how it works.
Central Axis: An organization based on the moon, far from the Sky and Astral Realms. Cassius, like many moondwellers, is a member. It is a strictly regimented society where members have no choice of profession and receive their food, necessities, and luxuries in accordance with their ranks. They are at war with strange, nebulous life-forms.
Moondwellers: The mysterious denizens of the moon. They lack a spoken language, communicating instead through electronic tones. They prize logical thought and prefer to deal with the world around them in a mechanical fashion. They struggle to understand and frequently exhibit contempt for illogical decisions and actions. Most moondwellers' lives are controlled by the organization to which they belong.
Seal Weapons: The weapons with which Vaseraga, Zeta, and other Society combatants have made contracts. Named by Alandus. These weapons can absorb a primal beast's power and kill it. They are in fact the dormant forms of automagods created by moondwellers. A command from a moondweller or other triggers can awaken the weapons, causing them to revert to their automagod forms. Like the automagods, the seal weapons have no wills of their own, but it would seem that Embrasque—contracted to Beatrix—is an exception. Embrasque responds strongly to Beatrix's words and emotions.
Site Zero: One of the Society's many bases, at a top-secret location in Phantagrande. Filled with talented scientists and researchers, it is the source of constant advancements in science and technology. It has no combat personnel of its own, so personnel from other bases are temporarily dispatched to Site Zero as needed to protect the noncombatant staff. The facility was obliterated by Versatile and is currently being reconstructed.
CORE SOCIETY GROUP MEMBERS

Having lost the only place where he belonged, this lone wolf roams the skydom unafraid to bear his teeth at the beasts who threaten peace. Although soft spoken, his quietly burning passion resonates in the thunderous roar of his trusty rifle.

Despite being robbed of a promising future, she never despairs and continues to fight on alone. Having crossed paths with a sword that devours causality, she eventually comes into her own as an outstanding swordswoman who never stays down no matter how many times she is knocked out.

Eyes glittering sharp and blue, she proves her strength by pursuing only the most dangerous of prey. No wall nor enemy can stand up to her steely will and burning spear. Although her form may be fair, her words bite deeper than the tip of her spear—sharp words are the mark of a hardened warrior.

He was unable to banish the shadows clinging to him, dyeing him the color of the abyss. As he struggled, he committed sin after sin until everything he cared about was taken from him. Finally forced to acknowledge his fall, he picked up a great scythe and donned ominous armor. The day of this wounded lion's redemption is still far off.

In order to teach the skills necessary to survive on the battlefield, this woman has hardened her heart to an almost demonic degree. But behind her harsh insults lies the determination of a drill sergeant who wants to see her cadets thrive. The only thing scarier to her than being hated is the fear of her comrades needlessly dying—so she spares no anger when she shouts at her platoon.
SOCIETY MEMBERS

A Society executive from back in the day. When Eustace lost his home as a boy to a tragedy enacted by Heisenberg and the Foe, it was Ronan who rescued him and became his guardian. A staunch supporter of the Society in its early days, Ronan was the organization's ace when it came to one-on-one combat. He's taught Eustace everything he knows, making the lone wolf his successor in many ways. Though he and Heisenberg joined the Society as peers, he regrets not realizing sooner what the older member was up to in all their time together. After the Society's collapse, he gathered the soldiers that had nowhere else to go and formed a coalition dedicated to wiping out the Foe.

A Society member who, despite being in her teens, serves as an elite soldier of Ilsa's company and is a seal weapon candidate. Learning that she's descended from the moon like Isaac and Grace was what drove her to join the Society and dedicate herself to training. Though Gwynne is a formidable warrior trailing behind Zeta and the other weapon contractors, she is a normal family-loving girl at heart.
(feat. in Home Sweet Moon)

These troops undergo the grueling tutelage of Drill Sergeant Ilsa on a daily basis. Just like Zeta and Vaseraga once did before them, they are cadets training to hunt primal beasts alone. Each one was recruited specifically by the Society for his or her potential aptitude to wield an excavated weapon. But only the best among them will be selected to become one of these contractors. Any remaining soldiers have two choices: leave the Society or become the drill sergeant's helper. However, a unit that wields standard, mass-produced weapons was formed recently—meaning even non-contractor forces could potentially see frontline combat.

The elderly administrator of a Society research facility called Site Zero, and one of the founders of the Society as it is today. He is a consummate scientist, always directly involved in research and development despite his position. Many of the tools and weapons currently used by Society members are his inventions. He has secretly harbored a desire to go to the moon since before the Society took its current form. In the course of his work to realize that ambition, he learned of the automagods used by the moondwellers. He became obsessed with their power, and that obsession eroded his sanity. Before founding the Society, he was a military man. Guzaletha, a fellow founder, is an old acquaintance of his.
(feat. in Second Advent; ref. in Home Sweet Moon)

A leading member of the Society who was heavily involved with setting up the structural command of Society forces to act as a deterrent against weapon contractors. He also had a hand in the development of anti-primal rounds, among other armaments that would come in handy against primals. Despite being with the splinter faction that actively tries to outdo seal weapons, his focus on the survivability of each and every soldier had earned him great respect from Ilsa.
(feat. in Spaghetti Syndrome and Home Sweet Moon)

Leader of the band of a Harvin gang known as the Odajumoki. Out of respect and adoration, the members of the Odajumoki called him Allfather. Skilled in cunning and the ability to capture the public's attention, he values the right to rampage around freely above all else. It is for that reason that he once betrayed the Society.

THE FOE/MOON
Not listing them again, but spoilers, Heisenberg is revealed to be a leader of the Foe and Alandus was more affiliated with the Moon.

Logic and rationality are everything to this young man. When he comes in contact with skydwellers—who are ruled by their emotions—he is introduced to a new worldview. No one knows what effect these at-times irrational souls will have on him.
(feat. in Second Advent, Spaghetti Syndrome, Home Sweet Moon; technically honorary member of Society group)

A young engineer descended from moondwellers who follows his family creed of helping skydwellers, being handy-dandy in all matters, and striving to one day return to his ancestral home. For high-risk jobs in dangerous regions, he wears a protective full-body suit (which he calls "gear") passed down through his family that was originally meant for withstanding the harsh conditions of the moon. Isaac takes great pride in both his lunar roots and the skydweller blood in him. On the other hand, he is fully aware of the fact that he was brought into the world to fulfill his ancestral obligation of returning to the moon, and sees it as a grave responsibility. Not wishing to push such a heavy burden upon his future children and grandchildren, he has avoided getting too involved with anyone, focusing purely on the completion of his rocket's construction.
(feat. in Spaghetti Syndrome and Home Sweet Moon; technically honorary member of Society group)

A small robot of Isaac's creation, its name is derived from a novel he once read. Comprised largely of automagod wreckage that Isaac received from fellow moon descendants, this trusty companion is adept at translating moon language and analyzing the composition of substances. Infused with a personality as real as any person's, it never passes up a chance to make a sarcastic quip at Isaac. The handy-dandy engineer himself knew beforehand that Raybury would function with some degree of autonomy based on the material used, but he was not expecting the level of free will shown. Raybury's existence has greatly stimulated Isaac's interest in moon technology, further deepening his desire to return to the moon.

A descendant of the moon and member of the Foe. True to her name, she exudes an extraordinary amount of grace and puts on a perpetual smile. However, her cruel and mysterious behavior is often quite the opposite of "graceful," the silver lining being that there does seem to be some meaning behind her actions. The movements of her right arm can seem somewhat erratic, perhaps due to a previous injury, as suggested by the cast she wears. It may even be an intentional camouflage for the nanowires that shoot out of her cast.
(feat. in Spaghetti Syndrome and Home Sweet Moon)

A girl who came to the skies with the first generation of moondwellers who would go on to be naturalized in the Sky Realm. In her interactions with skydwellers, she came to see the need for collecting info on primal beasts and founded the Society to do just that. When Yatima discovered that she wouldn't live long enough to undergo the life-extension procedure on the moon, she merged with an automagod to increase her life span. The fact that she was able to do so suggests she may have been an engineer on the moon, or at least was someone with skills befitting of one. However, it is unknown whether she had any involvement in the development of seal weapons, transceivers, or any of the other high-tech equipment that fascinates skydwellers.

A corpse of an Astral that fell during the War. It was long exposed to the elements until moondwellers found it and embedded it into a machine, ultimately using it as a device to facilitate communication between the moon and Moon Sliver. It can easily decipher the high-speed language used by moondwellers and automagods. Over half of the information learned about the skydwellers was provided by Neutronon.
(feat. in Right Behind You)

Beings that use ancient weapons excavated by both the Society and the Foe as their source core. Although they normally reside in their weapon form, they can manifest a body by using a metallic cell-like substance. When Zeta and the others discover the automagods' propensity for antagonizing skydwellers, they begin to regard their own weapons as dangerous. However, because not all of the excavated weapons have transformed in the same manner, the contractors will continue wielding them—at least until they begin to demonstrate signs of what happened to Vaseraga. Currently only three automagods have been identified: Arianensa, Grynoth, and Pyet-A.
(introduced in Right Behind You)

Alandus fused his own brain with Pyet-A and Embrasque to give birth to this new automagod. According to Cassius, the moondwellers acknowledge only the thirteen automagods of their own creation, so this fourteenth is an unwelcome aberration. Automagods are not usually capable of speech or independent thought—its moans and power of speech appear to come from Alandus. Alandus hoped to reach the moon in his new form, but he lost himself in the fusion and was destroyed by Beatrix and the other contractors with his dream unfulfilled.

The automagod Diaspora, also known as the Disperser or the Purger, is a large cluster of next-generation machine cells that can disassemble things at the molecular level.
Each machine cell possesses microscopic cilium that act as manipulators, which are directly responsible for the actual disassembly and subsequent bonding of single molecules into any shape or form, allowing the machine cells to roam about freely in the atmosphere.
Diaspora is usually stored in the disassembler located in the underground network of Central Axis. It is responsible for the teardown, storage, and molecular alignment of refuse for the purpose of extracting the basal substances.
It was once used for the repair or machine cell supplementation of damaged automagods as well, but as automagod technology advanced, Diaspora came to be redesigned as the thirteenth automagod. Its ultimate goal is to be deployed in the Sky Realm's atmosphere so that it may disperse at the cellular level in order to disassemble all of mankind, to be recirculated as resources for Central Axis.

OTHER ALLIES

A member of the rowdy "Odajumoki Gangsters", he is making his entrance as the main character of the story event "Gripping Freedom". While his personality can kind of be summed up with raucous laughter, and there are stupid parts of him, he also has a cool side, and he's a really good character. None of the Harvins up until this point have quite the same feeling. After clearing the second chapter of the event, he joins as a loyalty character, so please take him on battles to raise his loyalty points.

Mahira is the girl in charge of the miraculous "Rooster Temple". She was born with the mysterious ability to make objects levitate. The small hand drums that always float around her are held up by that power. If she puts her mind to it, she can make even big rocks fly. However, she cannot make herself fly. This causes others to laugh at her while asking "Even though you're a bird?". This shortcoming turned into a big complex for her, and she dreams of being able to fly through the sky with her powers before long.

Regret weighs heavily on the shoulders of this swordsman—if only he had followed his instincts, thrown away his emotional attachment, and cut down his disciple long ago. He dons his white robes once more in a silent vow, determined to fulfill his duties as the disciple's former master, even if such an act costs him his life.
