[Beneath him, Tifa's whole body shivers from the sudden cold. It's both a relief and a surprise, and while it is easing in the moment that it touches her, it doesn't take long before it, too, grows warmer. It does, however, help to loosen them from the floor...
...
Only not in the way she might have hoped, because as soon as she tries to test by moving her hands—no stick, at least!—they slide right back out from under her and sends her head against the floor.]
[Eustace was about to warn her when he sees her slipping, and he desperate tries to stretch out his hand to catch her head so it doesn't hit, but he only partially makes it.]
[She huffs out with a sheepish laugh, but it turns into a full-on giggle when she looks up at him and sees his hair, and the panicked look on front of his face. She doesn't mean to start laughing, especially given the situation, but the ridiculousness of it all has finally started to sink in as she rests her head back against his hand.
Just give her a moment.]
Sorry... [She catches her breath, her face red not just from the heat and embarrassment, but from the amusement now.] Spoke a little too soon...?
[The laughter probably doesn't help because it only adds more of that warm buzz around them—the same kind that always comes to life when she hears his laugh, sees him smile like that. She can't help but get caught up in the moment for just a second longer, her fingers running through his damp hair. After all the chaos, she's just glad to see that smile again.
So when he makes his suggestion, it takes Tifa an extra second or two to drop back into reality and realize what he's asking her to do.]
I can do that. But... [She bites down on her lip, another grin forming.] ... I might need a little boost for the vines.
[He looks at her confused before he sees that grin and look in her eye... And then realization hits, his own grin forming as he lowers his face closer towards her.]
[She's going to ignore the groans—they are working hard to get them all out of this plight, okay? Groan all you like, Eria will be thanking them later...!
Plus, she has far better things to pay attention to as Eustace lowers his face to hers, and when the floof of his hair droops along the sides of her face, she giggles quietly against his lips again.]
[He can only quietly laugh before he closes that distance between, his lips pressing against hers as the hand behind her hand gently threads through her soaked hair. It certainly doesn't help with the warm temperature, but there's at least a small breeze that carries through them.
And after that brief kiss—because she did say small—he grins down at her.]
She smiles into the kiss, as tender and sweet as always, but when he pulls back, he'll see a little flicker of frustration, her head lifting ever so slightly to chase after him. With a little wiggle of her hips beneath him and a look of pretend concentration, a few vines creep out across the floor, small and thin. It's clear that she isn't making much of an effort, and some of them even shrivel up at the heat before falling away.]
Mm... Doesn't look like it. Needs just a little more juice...
[He holds back the laugh as he sees that pitiful attempt.]
Hm... Can I consider this a boost for myself, too?
[A gleam in his eyes before he takes her lips, not giving her a chance to answer. The only way she'll be able to is how she responds to the kiss, one that's a little more fervent, his tongue brushing over her lips before pushing inwards, seeking hers.]
[From somewhere near the bedroom, she hears another sound. It isn't a puppy or wolf's groans (though those can be heard rather clearly) but a little snuffling giggling noise as Violet lazily drifts into the room, little hearts popping around her as she inflates like a balloon.
But Tifa ignores all of it as she lets herself melt right into that kiss, her lips parting just so when she feels his breath hot against hers. Her fingers tighten around his, and a soft hum of approval sounds from the back of her throat as she accepts and gives herself fully for it.
Of course, even if she tried not to, the vines grow themselves, these ones thicker than the ones that came before. They snake across the floor and then creep upwards, as if preparing to create a wall around them to block out the rest of the world.....]
[It is always so quick and easy for them to lose themselves like this. And truthfully, he would not have minded continuing...
...
If the heat hadn't started to become oppressive once more like a sauna. So there's a bit of a disgruntled sound as he finally pulls away, his breath a soft pant as he manages to laugh.]
[But she'll free him, though not without a tighter squeeze around his fingers or a gleam in her eyes, as if to remind him that they need to continue where they left off with this later. If he thought he was going to get out of it...]
Are you ready? [Another laugh as she feels that steamy heat cling to her skin.] Hopefully it doesn't melt faster than we can use it.
[A teasing grin as frost gathers at his fingertips... And indeed starts to quickly melt. Seeing this, he just sighs with a shake of his head and puts more concentration.]
Get ready.
[And with that, he'll concentration as much of his dreamotion as he can, the floor quickly covering in frost and thickening into a thin layer of ice. Ice that will indeed already start to shimmer as its surface starts to show signs of melting.]
[She only bats her lashes innocently at him at that accusation before she, too, is putting in some amount of concentration. With the vines already out and ready—though they do shudder from the intense heat—it isn't for them but to try reducing the heat that she creates as much as she can. She knows that since coming home, she's only made this worse for all of them, and it's the least that she can do...
It's a difficult feat given how natural the reaction is and how it ties into both positive and negative emotions, but with enough focus, she's at least able to stop the temperature from rising any more at her behest.
She can feel the ice against her back, making her shiver again, but never has ice on her skin felt so welcome. And once the layer is thick enough, she focuses instead on the vines and sends them all crashing down over the ice to shatter it all to pieces.
Already, she can feel the difference on the surface of the floor as she lowers her hands to run her fingers over it, but—]
Alright, we don't have a lot of time.
[She looks to Eria and Melody.]
Get up while it's still cold.
[A race against the clock and the heat as the ice has already started melting away!!!]
[Eustace stands the moment they can finally move, reaching down to help Tifa up. Melody jumps down with a happy bark and wag of her tail... Before she's jumping around, biting at some of the ice. Yum!!
Eria meanwhile nosedives into the slowly slushing ice. Pride and appearances be damned, SHE NEEDS THIS TO LIVE!!!
[Tifa looks to Eria as she accepts Eustace's help to her feet, but the wolf seems happy enough rolling around in the ice despite it melting, and her coat is already soaked and fluffy from it. So, with her hand gripping Eustace's firmly for balance, she tiptoes across the room, avoiding the sharper ice pieces on the way to the bathroom.]
We did it...!
[As they make it to the door at long last, she looks at Eustace with a gleam of pride, her hair an even bigger tattered mess than it was before. Just wait until they finally look in the mirror—
But it's with a longing, defeated sigh that she looks back at the state of the living room.]
We're going to need to do something about all that water later...
[A small grimace as he looks both at her, himself, and then back out to the living room. It really is a completely mess.]
Rhonwhen should be able to help... Could ask Mirabelle to come, too. I'm sorry.
[Because he feels it's probably his fault it got that way... Unless it's like this in other places?? He has no idea and he doesn't want to go outside to find out.]
[When he pouts like that, it all looks almost silly more than anything. He looks like a sad, wet dog and the only thing she can think about as she smiles up at him with some reassurance is how cute it is... And damp or not, her fingers comb through the floof that is his hair, brushing it back and still just making it worse.]
It's not your fault.
[That he would blame himself for this is also kind of silly, but she gets it. Though, if it's any consolation, it was pretty terrible everywhere else too.]
But maybe... we should reconsider the air conditioning for next time...?
[And she takes his shirt from him to drape over the sink for washing later, her gaze openly lingering on him for a moment, darting away before he can look around at her—]
But do you also remember what you said? [And then she puts on her best impression of Eustace's grumpy face and voice.] "Eria and I can handle it if it gets too hot."
[Tifa is about ready to shed her own shirt when she hears the telltale sound of something—or rather, sometapir drifting in their direction, her excited squeaks and snorts growing closer and closer... and when she promptly (but gently) shuts the door behind her, there's a little thump from the other side before the noises become quieter.
Some peace and privacy would be nice for once...
And with that out of the way, she slips her shirt up over her head and stretches her neck with a relieved sigh.]
Well, now we'll be prepared for anything.
[As the water runs, she kneels next to it and dips her fingers below the tap to test.]
[Honestly it took great restraint to not just go ahead and sit in the tub waiting for the water to fill, but he just takes the time to undress, barely listening to whatever's going on at the door as his impatience to cool off grows.
Hooooooooooooot.
So he doesn't even hear Tifa when she pauses by the side and just. Goes right on in and then stares at her.]
What?
[It could be colder, but it'll have to do for now.]
[She just watches him wide-eyed with awe. It's like everything he's doing is automatic... like his brain is at a disconnect with the rest of his body as it moves on its own will, free of what everything else around him is doing... including her. It's a little strange to witness considering how very acutely aware Eustace always is of his surroundings, so all she can do is stare...
Only snapping back when he asks, and she bounces back with—]
—what?
[But before he gives an answer, Tifa shakes the bewilderment away so that all she's left with is genuine concern.]
Eustace, are you sure you're okay? You're acting a little...

Before he ends up joining her, his own lighter and a little quieter like it usually is, but there nonetheless.]
No... It's fine. The water helped, but not so much in giving us traction.
[He looks down at her with a smile before looking back on the mess on the floor.]
Ice will give us the same problem... But maybe we can work together.
What if I froze it, but you break it with the vines? That everything will remain in the ice and it won't melt, giving us a chance to at least get up.
